K Sarveshan is a South African Bharatanatyam artiste of Indian origin. His work explores the intersections of classical and contemporary movement, drawing from Bharatanatyam, Kalaripayattu, Yoga, Indian folk forms, Kathak, and Carnatic music. Grounded in rigorous training and ongoing research, Sarveshan’s practice reflects a deep engagement with cultural identity and the body in performance.
K Sarveshan is a South African Bharatanatyam artiste based in Tamil Nadu, India. His work is shaped by a multidisciplinary movement practice that includes Bharatanatyam, Kalaripayattu, Yoga, traditional Indian folk forms, Kathak, and Carnatic music. These influences inform a creative approach that moves between classical structures and contemporary expression, with Bharatanatyam at its centre.
He began his training under Savitri Naidoo, a student of Pandanallur Srinivasa Pillai and Indira Rajan, and continued under renowned Gurus Shanta and V.P. Dhananjayan. Sarveshan holds a BA Honours in Performance Studies from the University of Cape Town (2021), where he developed a parallel interest in dance research and critical performance theory.
His professional experience includes work with Bharata Kalanjali, Spanda Dance Company (led by Leela Samson), Anikaya Dance Theatre, and the University of Cape Town. These collaborations have supported his growth as a performer, choreographer, and teacher.
Some of the notable performances he has been a part of include Kaadhal Valli Kanda Murugan by The Dhananjayan, Nadi by Spanda Dance Company, Krishna by Shijith Nambiar, Conference of The Birds by Wendy Jehlen, Rite of Spring by Seeta Patel, and many more.
